Progress

This week I scanned all of the texts that correspond with my concentration photos, and made the PSD files for submission. I still have to take more pictures for that project, but I am making progress.

My Breadth

Finally- I have put the finishing touches on my breadth portfolio! I just included 2 landscapes and portraits to choose from, so I have to eliminate two, but I am done.

Breadth Update

Upon updating my breadth portfolio for the upcoming critique, I now realize it is too cold for an underwater shot. Therefor, I am going to incorporate another landscape picture into the portfolio because that is what I feel is lacking.

Concentration

From the critique, I learned that I need to reshoot some of my pictures, continue to take pictures, add in the captions, and last but not least- make some of the pictures singles instead of diptecs.

Making Progress

Since our last critique, I scratched all of the pictures in that presentation. So- I completley started over, and have adapted the ideas I have posted before. I have 7 pictures thus far, and I am still working to get the rest done.

Concentration Photos

With the upcoming critique, I want to make my photos more impressive and diverse. That being said, I am going to take a close-up picture of the insecurity, and then have a diptec next to it with a portrait of the picture next to it, to show the insignificance, as Cooper suggested for me to do:). I will also photograph in different scenes, in which the model feels more comfortable. So far, I am pleased with a picture I have demonstrating the insecurity of skin discoloration or acne.

Breadth- Almost done!

I really like the portraits I took for my breadth because they provide a somewhat dark tone and feeling in them which none of my other pictures have.

From the Critique

On the critique of my concentration thus far I learned alot of intresting ideas I can apply to my project. It is because of these suggestions that I am going to improve the work in my concentration by:
  1. changing the back ground or area in which I take the picture to create variety and allow the model to feel more comfortable when showcasing their insecurity.
  2. try and photograph the model close up to magnify the insecurity and then as a diptec photograph them from normal distance to show the insignificance of the insecurity.
  3. have the models write on a piece of paper what their insecurity is, and I can photoshop them in.
  4. attempt to photograph in big groups, to make the insecurity seem more legitamate.

Progress with my Project

A Quote Inspiring My Statement

This quote hits the nail on the head as far as translating what the message of my project is about, and I think it would be cool to use it in my statement.

Updates on My Concentration

I decided to change a small part of my concentration, and now the concept of my project includes me taking a picture of someone with their insecurity shown in the image, and then I will have them write down what their insecurity is, and put it either next to or on the image for the final stage of it.

My Concentration So Far

Take a picture of the insecurity, then present the person as a whole showing the insecurity. This proves to people that the insecurity is insignificant in the grand scheme of things, and that there is nothing for them to be insecure about.

Concentration Photos

I very recently made changes my concentration, so that now, my concentration statement reads as follows; my project will illustrate the insecurities the youth of today seems to want to hide more than anything. I will photograph the insecurity upclose, and then the person with the insecurity, proving that what they are insecure about is indeed insignificant, and that they are still beautiful.

This is one example for my concentration, others include glasses, braces, leg shapes, tummy, and other insecurities that people feel.

My breadth Critique

I took out three or four pictures from my breadth portfolio. Now, I see that I need to reshoot one of my portraits, put one of my self portraits in, and take another photo to make some diversity, possibly underwater.

My Concentration Ideas

Focus One:

The one option I have not explored really is underwater photography. That being said, I would like my concentration to take place underwater, it just depends on what the focus is.My first thought was to photograph children underwater, posing as what they want to be when they grow up. Consequently, that could be seen as morbid, seeing as how they are underwater.

Focus Two:

Piggy backing on my first focus, I would also photograph teenagers and or adults, posing as what they had dreamed to be as a child. This way, I could draw parallels from childhood into reality.

Focus Three:

My third focus has a totally different approach, and it isn't underwater. I am such an animal lover, and I love seeing how goofy dogs look while their face is out of the window, so my focus would be to photograph dogs with their heads out the window, or maybe jumping into a pool. The focus would be a dog's facial expressions.
